Since the world has never before seen a dilemma like this, the question "What is our agenda for Jewish Continuity?" is crucial to all Jewish communities. This program challenges participants to identify the means by which we can guarantee Jewish Continuity in the Diaspora and asks what their role will be in this endeavor.
Zionist Thinkers: Dreams and Reality Time: 2 hours
Why are Herzl's writings still relevant today? Who was Achad Ha'am, discover what his ideological disagreement with Herzl. The purpose of this activity is to enable participants to gain knowledge of Zionist ideology reflected by the leading Zionist thinkers and to compare it to the dreams and the reality of the State of Israel today. Zionist thinkers are brought to life.
Zionism, Israel & the Diaspora - A Troubled Relationship Time: 1.5 hours
Israel has failed in the "ingathering of the exiles." As such Israeli democracy is faced with a unique problem - Jews who declare allegiance to the State and yet are neither citizens nor live within the country's borders. This seminar explores the nature of Israel Diaspora relations. Our purpose in this activity is to raise awareness of different possible models for Israel Diaspora relations and to encourage participants to place themselves in relation to this question. Hard hitting questions will be posed, challenging participants' self identity with Israel.
